Spam management in MT 3.2

Apparently, with 3.2, the blacklist plugin is now obsolete-MT comes with new features designed to help bloggers manage comment spam.

This new functionality seems to revolve around two new features: Comment ratings and the junk folder. Comments are also now centrally managed under the "comments" section of each blog.

Basically, the way it seems to work is when you login, you go to your blog, and select "comments." You are then shown all the comments waiting to be approved (make sure you've gone into your blog settings and turned comment approval on!). You can approve them, hold them, or mark them as "junk." When a comment is marked as junk, it and any emails like it are sent to the junk folder, where they are automatically deleted after a period you det (the default is sixty days, this setting is in the blog settings under "comments")

The principle is similar to an email spam filter-by marking emails as spam, the filter gets better and better at guessing which emails are spam and automatically taking care of them for you. By marking comments as junk, the system is able to better tag comments with lower ratings, and move them automatically to the junk folder, where they are deleted for you.

More on this as I get better using it.
