I have some PDFs I use for presentation in class, and I often read journal articles in PDF format. I've been looking around the web, and it turns out that the annotation features in Reader and Acrobat just are not digital ink friendly—As you'll note if you try to quickly mark up a PDF doc. One solution is to print it to OneNote, and mark it up there, but if you don't print it page by page, it come out in one note as one giant page. Not good.

I did find a fairly cheap program called PDF annotator, which I am trying out. It does most of what you would expect Acrobat to do. here are some links:

An old Blog entry describing the problem:

When we meet Friday (noon, Northen Auditorium), I'd like to address the following:

1.) OneNote Service Pack Two: This is an upgrade that includes some new features related to importing Microsoft Office documents into OneNote.

2.) Classroom Presenter: I'll demonstrate a really amazing application that allows instructor and students to share and collaborate on materials (a PowerPoint presentation, a quiz, a poll) in class using Tablet PCs. Here is a link to the University of Washington CompSci department, where this has been developed: http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/dl/presenter/ . I also have a short video on Classroom Presenter that I'd like to show you.

3.) Our blog: I'll introduce you to a blog I have set up to share our experiences, tips, and questions.

4.) Your experience using Tablet PCs so far. I haven't heard many questions lately, so I hope that means you're up and running smoothly. In any event, I am eager to hear how it's going.

Lunch will be provided for this meeting, though it might wind up being pizza because every catering outfit in the city is booked up with Parents Weekend events.

I look forward to seeing you Friday.
