Leyburn Library Renovation?

You may have heard rumors of renovations coming to Leyburn Library. At least some of those rumors are true.

To find out what's in the works, drop by our Main Floor lobby on Tuesday 1 April (no fooling) to see and hear a preview of the re-design project, which will begin within just a few months.

A short visual presentation will begin at 12 noon, and be repeated several times, with time for
questions, until 1:30 pm. So, drop in whenever it's convenient. We welcome your questions and comments.
Our design consultants, Mark McConnel and Sara McCarter of SFCS, Inc. in Roanoke, will be the presenters.

What sorts of renovations? Maybe... comfortable seating, better lighting, group study spaces, improved multimedia space, new carpets, new offices, and an entrance facing Reid Hall and the Elrod Commons.
I hope you will be able to drop by.

"Sexual Behavior of Single Adult American Women"

Guttmacher Institute.
Available online.
Article from the March 2008 issue of Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health notes that "while the rate of sexual experience among single women has remained virtually unchanged since the late 1980s, the median age at first marriage rose from 22.0 in 1980 to 25.3 years in 2002; as a result, women are sexually active for a longer period of time before getting married... The authors argue that government policies such as abstinence-only education—which advocates abstinence until marriage for all women aged 12–29—ignore the actual behaviors of the majority of Americans."
