<p>Students will write a research paper with at least 2 outside sources. They'll either write on The Great Gatsby or on M. Butterfly. All are freshmen, so I gave them an in-depth overview of the Library Homepage, ILL, and off-campus access. Mentioned plagiarism and citations sources.</p>

         <title>Turk McClesky&apos;s Class</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>VMI Cadets may come to use the Leyburn Library. They are asked to use America: History and Life and find several articles that are historiographies. They each have specific areas to research.(There may be some confusion with the assignment. They can do this part at VMI.) <br />
The next part of the assignment is to find a book in our collection that has a chapter that deals with their subject area and historiography. Prof. McClesky wants them to get a feel for using our catalog and collection b/c he feels it is strong in the area they are researching (colonial life).<br />

         <title>Politics 100: American National Government</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Rebecca Harris' students in her POL 100 class have begun work on an assignment which requires them to find an article on a relevant topic (such as voting in the U.S.) within certain scholarly journals, and then to identify one of that article's citations which refers to a second article from that select group of journals.<br />
I did not meet with that class, but Rebecca and I put together a <a href="http://library.wlu.edu/guides/pol/Politics100_Harris.asp">research guide</a> for helping her students with the assignment.   And you may be asked about it at the Reference Desk!<br />
There actually is more than one way to accomplish the assignment's goals.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Journalism 295A: Covering Classic Journalism</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Visiting Professor Caesar Andrews is teaching a class (8 students) in which students are to thoroughly research the background of one of the most important works of <a href="http://www.nyu.edu/classes/stephens/Top%20100%20page.htm">journalism</a> in the 20th century and then develop a plan for reporting on that story with modern journalistic techniques.
