IQ score, What's it good for?

The 30 min radio interview with Dr. Murdoch (not to be confused with our own Dr. Murdock) provides an interesting critique of the use of IQ scores in our culture. What are your reactions? Is the widespread administration of IQ tests in our culture misdirected?

IQ test makers over the past century have designed tests to keep the average score of takers at 100 points; however if you we went back in time to earlier tests we would score a good deal higher than we do on the current tests. This is because the IQ tests have been designed to be more difficult to coincide with, (and this is perhaps one beneficient aspect of the tests) the increase in average intelligence over the last century. IQ tests have benefitted us by making intelligence a social commodity and by measuring and recording our society's increase in intelligence. Don't believe it? Do your own research.
