Vital Statistics on the Presidency

Based on the third edition, this online edition contains "more than 175 tables and charts covering the office of the president from George Washington to George W. Bush, including data on the 2008 presidential primaries. The volume includes statistical coverage of public approval of the president, elections, vetoes, executive orders, foreign affairs, the executive branch, congressional and judicial relations, public appearances, and much more."

Papers of Thomas Jefferson (Digital Edition)

The Washington and Lee University Library has acquired access to the online Papers of Thomas Jefferson (Digital Edition), part of the University of Virginia's Rotunda project.

Purchase of this great resource was made possible by the generosity of the Friends of the Library of Washington and Lee University.

According to the publisher, this "digital edition brings together all thirty-three volumes published through 2006 into one searchable online resource. This content will be joined soon by the first four volumes of the Retirement Series sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, which documents the time between Jefferson's return to private life and his death in 1826."
Entries may be browsed chronologically and the entire text is searchable by keyword.

The Washington and Lee University Library continues to subscribe to the online Columbia International Affairs Online database, which "publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs."

"The first major evaluation of smart growth policies in the United States..., based on an analysis of empirical evidence using data from the US Census, Census of Government, Natural Resources Inventory, and many other sources, to determine whether four states with formal statewide smart growth policies -- Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Oregon -- achieved the stated objectives of those policies."
