"The first major evaluation of smart growth policies in the United States..., based on an analysis of empirical evidence using data from the US Census, Census of Government, Natural Resources Inventory, and many other sources, to determine whether four states with formal statewide smart growth policies -- Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Oregon -- achieved the stated objectives of those policies."
